A guide to choosing hex keys and tool sets
A hex key must fit the bolt socket exactly. Similar-looking sizes can damage it; do not confuse hex and Torx shapes. Individual Park Tool keys and cased sets address different needs. A set name does not mean every bit is included.
Handle length changes access and grip. Consider tool shape in confined spaces; a long handle does not mean a fitting needs greater tightening force.
- Identify each bolt's bit shape and size and compare it with the contents list.
- Assess folding, T-handle and long keys against working space and carrying volume.
- Use component-specified torque values and a suitable torque wrench where required.
Are hex and Torx the same tool?
No. Tip shapes differ; select the correct type and size. Check the title and bit list.
Will one set cover an entire bike?
It depends on the fittings. Special standards or sizes may require separate tools.
