Check inner wire dimensions and attachments
Check the wire head accepted by the shifter and the manufacturer's recommended wire construction. Frame routing affects length, particularly to the rear derailleur. Inspect housing and ends when replacing wire: rusted or crushed housing can impede a new wire. Wire replacement alone does not explain every shifting problem. For internal routing, record the path before removal to help plan installation and check length.
