Width and shape affect foot support. Consider pins or texture together with the shoe sole. Aluminium bodies, bearings and colour distinguish products, but establish suitability by connection and use first. For illuminated models, read power and operation details separately. Look beyond pin count: sole and overall platform shape also matter when assessing contact.

Do flat pedals need special cleats?
