Rims
When replacing a rim, assess tyre dimensions, spoke count and brake system together. Compare rims for different wheel sizes by diameter, internal width, profile and hole count. Check compatibility with your hub, tyre and brake before choosing, and verify the manufacturer's recommended setup.

Dimensions needed for a new rim
Rim diameter must match the tyre's bead seat diameter. Assess internal width alongside the intended tyre width. Compare hub and rim hole counts; if reusing spokes, remember that effective rim diameter may change. Do not assume a disc-specific rim has a rim-braking surface. Evaluate tyre, spoke and brake interfaces together instead of concentrating only on colour or profile depth.
- Read the tyre size and rim specifications.
- Check braking surface, hole count and valve hole.
- Determine tape and valve requirements separately for tubeless installation.
Will replacing the rim also require new spokes?
Possibly. New rim dimensions affect spoke length. Calculate the required length before assuming the old spokes fit.
Is a tubeless valve enough for conversion?
No. Rim and tyre compatibility, tape and sealant must be considered together. Accessories cannot make every rim suitable for tubeless use.
