Consider the whole system when changing one part
Derailleurs, shifters, cassette and chain must meet each other's requirements. Equal gear counts do not always form a compatible system. Electronic parts have battery, charger, cable and software requirements too. Read each groupset component; do not assume brakes or bottom bracket are included. Assess the problem and component condition first: newer models are not always direct replacements.
- List existing component model codes.
- Check frame attachment, freehub body and crank compatibility.
- Match spares with the component's service information.
Is matching gear count enough?
No. System family, controls and other interfaces matter too. Read manufacturer pairing information.
Does an electronic charger fit every battery?
Verify supported battery and connection type. Compare charger code with exact battery model instead of relying on appearance.
